Departmental Characteristics: Japanese Exchange, Top-notch

(1) Cultivate practical skills: To cultivate Japanese language communication talents for business, tourism, information and technology application translation that are needed nationwide.

(2) Expanding international horizons: There are more than 50 sister schools in Japan, and the tuition and fees of the sister schools in Japan are waived during the exchange period for the bachelor's and master's programs, and the tuition and fees of Kainan University are the only ones that need to be paid.

(3) Curriculum design: Emphasis is placed on the training of Japanese listening, speaking, reading, writing, translation and communication skills, and the implementation of small class teaching in the compulsory courses; the university and the department of advanced studies are required to have 4 hours of conversation classes every week for the whole year. This program is designed to help students effectively control their learning progress and improve their learning results. Visiting professors and exchange fellows (visiting teachers) from sister schools in Japan.

(4) Teaching Staff: The full-time doctoral faculty is one of the best in the Applied Japanese Department of the nation's new universities, with more than ten years of teaching experience, and Japanese teachers with professional backgrounds in Japanese language teaching to provide an environment for students to learn the language and communicate across cultures.

(5) Learning Counseling: Specialized teachers are regularly scheduled from Monday to Friday in the department's professional classroom, the Tokyo Hall, to take shifts to conduct coursework counseling.

(6) Professional space: The "Tokyo Hall" is a language learning village, a Japanese-style communication space, and a place for cultural experience and language interaction with Japanese students from many countries on campus.

(7) Professional development: The program integrates a variety of practical courses to cultivate students' second specialties (including business, tourism, culture, technology, and other professional electives) and to strengthen students' employability.

(8) Enhancement of International Mobility: International teaching, winter and summer study tours to sister schools in Japan, and overseas internships at Japanese hot spring inns and hotels.

(9) Interdisciplinary Learning: The department cooperates with the Departments of Tourism (Interdisciplinary Credit Program for International Tour Guide Training), Film (Interdisciplinary Credit Program for Japanese and Korean Creators and Creative Industries), Accounting (Interdisciplinary Credit Program for International Finance and Accounting Professionals), and Communication (Interdisciplinary Credit Program for Entrepreneurship and Career Development in the Design and Communication Industry) to provide credit programs for students to choose from.
